“Jolly Old St. Nicholas with Up on the Housetop” for STRING ORCHESTRA

Jolly Old St. Nicholas with Up on the Housetop is a fun Motown-inspired arrangement of two popular holiday carols. The Violin 3/Viola part is very simple–limited to just a few notes. The Violin 2 part is the most challenging, having some simple scale passages, but containing no altered fingerings. The Violin 1 part is slightly more challenging than the Violin 3/Viola part, containing the top voice of the melody. The middle section provides the Cellos with an opportunity to play the melody. The Bass part provides a funky, but accessible bass line. Your beginning musicians will love playing along with the groovy, retro rhythm track (included in the download file along with the PDF score & parts), but this arrangement works equally well with the piano accompaniment.
