Commission for a Church or
Academic Group

  • Commission an original anthem or arrange a new choral setting of a P.D. tune for choir (with piano accompaniment): $2,000–$2,500*
  • Commission an original anthem or arrange a new setting of a P.D. tune for choir (with piano accompaniment) with an accompaniment orchestration: $3,000–3,500*
  • Commission a new setting of a P.D. tune for orchestra: $2,500–$3,000*
  • Commission a new piece for orchestra: $3,000–$3,500*

*These rates include typesetting, engraving, and score preparation.

Commission for a Civic or Professional Orchestra and/or Chorus

  • Commission an original anthem or arrange a new choral setting of a P.D. tune for choir (with piano accompaniment): $750* per minute of music.
  • Commission an original anthem or arrange a new setting of a P.D. tune for choir (with piano accompaniment) with an accompaniment orchestration: $1000* per minute of music.
  • Commission a new piece or a new setting of a P.D. tune for orchestra: $1,250* per minute of music.

*These rates include typesetting, engraving, and score preparation.

Commission of an Arrangement and/or Orchestration of a Copyrighted Tune

If you would like to commission Dan to arrange and/or orchestrate a copyrighted tune, he will do so as long as you have first received a license from the publisher. Licenses are usually granted (by the publisher) based on the number and size of the auditorium(s) in which your concert will be performed.

Dan’s fee will be consistent with the fees listed, that is, dependent on the duration of the piece and the classification of your group.

We will get back to you with a quote as quickly as possible.

  • This will give us a title to refer to when discussing the commissioned piece.
  • Usually 3-5 minutes
  • This can be amended and/or edited as the process is begun. The text must be in the public domain.
  • This may sometimes be negotiable depending on the length and complexity of the piece.
  • The text you would like to appear in the dedication header under the title.
