“Emerald Isle” (2 Versions) for STRING ORCHESTRA

Emerald Isle is a versatile Celtic piece for beginning students. It features two versions: one in 4/4 and the other in 6/8 meter. The rhythms in the 4/4 version are usually simpler for beginning students than those in the 6/8. Either version works very well with only the Violin 1&2 parts.

Emerald Isle is designed to accommodate the variety of ability levels among beginning string students. The Violin 1 part features simple, diatonic fingering patterns on the A string. The Violin 2 part is slightly more challenging as it incorporates pentatonic scale patterns. As your string orchestra grows and matures, you can add the Violin 3 part that challenges your young musicians to play high 3’s.
